T1 Club Camp: An Educational Programme for Children with Type 1 Diabetes

T1 Club Camp Diabetes is an Education & Management programme for children with Type 1 Diabetes which is also known as juvenile diabetes or insulin-dependent diabetes, a chronic condition in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin.

The first camp was a successful collaboration between RHB Foundation and National Diabetes Institute (NADI) while the second camp in 2019 was a collaboration with both Association of Diabetes Malaysia and Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) for 2 days 1 night camp at Bayou Lagoon Resort Melaka for T1 children from the low income families.

T1 Club Camp activities include:

1 Talks by specialist/endocrinologist on diet and self-care

2 Outdoor activities to enable the participating children to be independent

3 Groups activities and games to give opportunity for the children to interact with other children who are in the same condition

  • Empower T1 children to take control of their condition.
  • Better understand the effects of food and exercise based on their daily blood glucose levels.
  • Provide psychological support on living with diabetes and build their confidence and self-esteem.
